Welcome to the Southeast District of Tau Beta Sigma

The Southeast District is the largest district of Tau Beta Sigma, consisting of 40 chapters representing North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Thank you to our founders and everyone involved in getting the Alpha chapter established at Oklahoma State!!

Wava Banes (Henry), Emily SoRelle and Rose La Nell Williams, along with director D.O. Wiley of the Texas Tech University Band - thank you for being the minds that helped this organization come to life and for jumping through the hoops you encountered to create Tau Beta Sigma!

While applying for a national charter, the Texas Tech Chapter encountered difficulties involving certain Texas state corporation laws. So, In January of 1946, the women of the Texas Tech Tau Beta Sigma Band Sorority, through their director, D.O. Wiley, graciously surrendered their name, “TAU BETA SIGMA,” their constitution, ritual and jewelry designs to the local band club at Oklahoma State University, in order that the national organization could be established.

The Atlanta Band Program Initiative is a community-driven effort dedicated to supporting young musicians by providing resources.😎Each participating program embodies key aspects of our mission, fostering musical excellence, leadership, and education. 🎶These programs include: New Schools of Carver, Booker T. Washington, and Frederick Douglas’s High school.

This initiative works by having each program create an Amazon wishlist. All your chapter has to do is click the link that will be located in our bio today, select an item or items to purchase, and complete the transaction. All items will be shipped directly to each program.👏🏾

Join us for an inspiring session with Divinity Roxx, an award-winning musician, recording artist, and composer known for her uplifting lyrics and dynamic bass grooves. Her career took off after training with legendary bassist Victor Wooten, leading to a five-year tour with him before becoming the bassist and Musical Director for Beyoncé. She has performed on major stages, including The Grammy Awards, SNL, Good Morning America, and even at The White House with President Obama.

Beyond performing, Divinity is dedicated to inspiring the next generation through Divi Roxx Kids, her production company focused on family music and children's books. She is also composing for theater productions and preparing to teach at Berklee Online. Don’t miss the chance to hear her story, insights, and advice on thriving in the music industry!

We take a comprehensive approach to leadership, looking at it within every sphere of your time in our organizations and teaching you how to be a leader in your band, your chapter, your district, and even your future beyond graduation. Learn how to be a better leader, with or without a title, and how leadership is a team effort. Best of all: build your bonds across the district to equip you to become better leaders together!

To receive the green stripe, we must host a leadership development event for members in our band program. So what does it mean to be a leader? How can we share tips and tricks to ensure successful leadership in our band programs and/or in our lives? By completing this challenge, you will take the time to answer these questions and more with your fellow sisters! If you’ve already completed Green stripe, brainstorm goals for leadership development in your chapter! What would you like to see more of? How can you ensure that your chapter is successful after you leave?
